Harris Ranch, Bakersfield Harley-Davidson, California Inn, Firehouse Restaurant

The first day was just to head down to Barstow, CA where we would first encounter the old Route-66.
We took I-5 down most of the way with a swing over to Bakersfield.

With great anticipation, we reconnoitered at RM & K's house.

We stopped by Harris Ranch to eat a quick lunch.  We were just still learning how to organize our things and ourselves onto the bikes.

At the Bakersfield HD dealer, K became aware that his iPhone was missing.  We all panicked.  The prospect of riding back to Harris Ranch was daunting.
Fortunately, it turned up.  It had fallen down into one of the legs of K's leather pants.

We finally made Barstow and bedded down for our first night on the trip.
